Future of Work

Employers are spending a significant effort in selling employees on the concept of the Future of Work, an idea borne out of the post-pandemic world in which information workers, having spent the pandemic working from their homes, are now confronted with pressure to return to the office either part- or full-time. At the same moment in time, Large Language Models such as ChatGPT threaten to make the roles of many information workers superfluous in the near future. "Future Of Work" visually extrapolates a dystopian future where information workers are absent from a spatially compact and inhospitable work environment, leaving managers alone to preside over tasks performed by an imposing and sinister AI. This work was inspired in tone by the 1950s dystopian urban imagery of George Tooker.
